The Itinerary

Lower Fort Garry (1830) is the oldest intact stone Hudson's Bay Company fort still standing in North America. 30 min from Winnipeg on the Red River.

Costumed interpreters recount fort life in the fur trade era. This is where Treaty 1 was signed (1871) between the Crown and the Anishinaabe/Cree — the foundation of modern Canada–First Nations relations in the Prairies. Stone quarters, hospital and distillery restored.
