Crown Land in southeast Manitoba
The far southeast corner of Manitoba, around Sprague and the Lake of the Woods shore, is mostly forest, and most of that is the Northwest Angle Provincial Forest, about 2,158 km² of Crown land along the Minnesota border. This page is centred on Moose Lake Provincial Park, on a 6.4 km² lake with northern pike, crappie, largemouth bass and perch on the province's records. Birch Point Provincial Park, on Lake of the Woods, is about 7 km away, the Buffalo Point wildlife refuge 20 km, and the Cat Hills and Wampum provincial forests 32 to 39 km. Moose Lake and Birch Point have campgrounds, there is another in the provincial forest about 11 km away, and Buffalo Bay Marina is 19 km. Sprague Lake (9 km) and the Whitemouth and Middlebro trout ponds (16 to 20 km) round out the fishing. This page rounds up the region's public land, fishing spots and campgrounds.
