Steinbach hosts the Mennonite Heritage Village, the world's largest Mennonite museum: 32 restored period buildings including a working windmill, recreating the life of Russian Mennonites who arrived in 1874.
At the museum cafeteria, sample borscht, vereniki (dumplings) and rolkuchen (fried pastry). In August, Pioneer Days Festival fills the site. The Clearspring Centre is one of rural Manitoba's largest malls. A perfect stop to understand Prairie Mennonite identity.
